Because their lying and deceit never work on us, so they have to accuse us of being something. We don't fall into their "target groups", therefore, we are outsiders and must be labeled as the enemy! Bottom line, they're just mad they can't convince everybody of their bullsh** ideas! At least there are a few of us with a functioning brain!!

The Republican Party hasn't done a very good job with this, largely because they get so much support from the religious extremists, and what matters to a political party (any of 'em) is getting power and staying there. Until and unless they can come up with a different loyal voting bloc, they're going to have to keep up their appeal to the "super religious nut jobs" if they want to keep their power. As a result, the party leaders more or less try not to draw attention to the problem caused by American religious extremism, and that looks from the outside like endorsement of those people.

The fact is that many Republicans DO oppose the religious right, but as a practical matter they can't stand up for the United States in those fights and expect to stay in office. Given a choice between standing up for the U.S. and staying in power, a political party will choose staying in power each and every time. About the only major exception that I can think of is when President Clinton stood up against "Sister Souljah", and even that got him a lot of criticism from the party.

We don't. I have had some awesome discussions with Republicans (although there are some liberal Republicans, rare but they do exist.) I think SOME conservative Republicans are super religious nutjobs; unfortunately many of that crowd have chosen this forum to vent. The media doesn't help by catering to people like Ann Coulter. And don't get me wrong...I know SOME liberals are athiest conspiracy theorists. And they're on here, too. We all have our crosses to bear.

I believe there are legitimate concerns/beliefs in both parties/ideologies. Just depends on what's more important to you.

There are extremes in both major American parties, both major American ideologies. I love the above comment, "Liberals stereotype too much...and I'm not stereotyping." We all need to do a better job at telling them to be quiet so the grown people can have a real discussion.

Because that is the way a majority of them present themselves. Every other word out of their mouth is God.

Don't get me wrong, I strongly believe in God but that is my business and I would never push my beliefs on anyone.

Republicans are always stating that this is how God would have done this and God would have done that.

They need to keep their beliefs to themselves. Actually, everyone should keep their beliefs to themselves. It would prevent a lot of problems.

In a Nation full of people with many different beliefs, Religion should have no place in Government.

Now, why do Republicans think ALL Liberals are Anti American, Socialists, Communists, Baby Killers and Non Religious nut jobs?

i'm religious (no longer a nut) and a Republican, yet that's the first time i have even seen the call Carrie Prejean. Is she a porn superstar or what? I extremely doubt she's a spokesperson for the Republican reason. Democrats have extra contained in the "wealthy" class (than Republicans) consisting of (Hollywood, WallStreet, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Nancy Pelosi, Politicians, television Personalities, medical doctors, attorneys, and Entertainers). some have not a clue what family individuals values comprise.

why do both sides think the others are maniacs?

because the people representing both sides in the media are maniacs. really tragic

I'm a liberal and I've met some (but not many) logical and moderate Republicans. I just don't like how they usually aren't well informed on Iraq (think they found WMDs and Al Qaeda) and the economy (think tax cuts are, as Bush said, "vast majority going to the bottom"). If you are indeed well-informed, I thank you...

Because they are marketing themselves to religous nut jobs.
You have to appear to be a religous nut job in order to be appealing to religous nut jobs. You can't get the religous nut job vote unless you convince them that you are one, and will therefore spend your time in office the religous nut job population.
You know what will fix that?
Election reform.
Disband the two party forum.
Then politicians will have to get off of this one or the other bandwagon (republican, or democrat), and deal with real issues instead of bandying about a topic that they know will ignite a controversy and picking the opinion that best suits their party.

your question should've been.. why do many liberals think alot of republicans are nut jobs? we shouldn't categorize and stereotype their is such a thing as mixed opinion or unique opinion.

i think many republicans are ignorant to truths about the party they support.

I've personally never met a religeous republican, the ones I know are drunks, and never vote. It's the working ones that make America what it is today, but, just a sec, I gotta get another beer, oh, and I don't know anyone in the liberal party.

Well not all but most.

As a liberal I recognize that the Christian right is a fashionable costume for Redpublicans to wear. It has nothing to do with God or Redpublicans being religious. It is all smoke and mirrors.

If being a homosexual would benefit the Redpublicans then they would all have dust on their knees.

Because many of them (especially on here) behave that way. I am well aware that it isn't true. I have several friends who are Republican and we can have fun, spirited debates about politics and still be friends (although, 3/4 of them are voting Democrat in the next election).
