I live in Germany, and I'm American. I'm sure I have alot more contact with French than most people in the states and I find them to generaly be freindly, helpfull, respectfull, ect... My wifes best freind's boyfreind, french, traveled from france to germany on his Vacation to help me out with my new bar, and I barely even knew the guy, he worked for free, and insisted on paying for all his drinks!
I spent my honey moon in france and everywhere i went they treated me like a king, I met several nice people in various bars and clubs.
The french people were against the War in Iraq and thegovernment Obeyed their wishes to stay out, isn't that the basis of Democracy? Some peple say that makes them chickens, I say anybody that sucks up to the US and does whatever we want is a chicken.
They helped us in the Rev. War.
French cusine is awsome, ever tried it?
Now I'm not going to say they are perfect, but why should we hate them? Don't we have enough enemies already?

It's called "ignorant nationalism and bigotry promoted by the right wing to redirect hatred and social anxiety away from itself and torwards an scapegoat".
Basically, they direct the attention away from the real cause of the country's problems to an "scapegoat" that we can all hate. Ignorant people usually fall for these ploys.

You asked if we don't have enough enemies. Shouldn't you ask the French govt. the same question.
If it were not for America there would be no France. The French refused to fight the Germans, so we had to do it without French help. As a reward for the many thousands of American lives lost, the French opposes us in every little thing at the UN.
Whatever comes up, the French oppose. We asked for help in Iraq. Forget it, not the French, after all you can get killed.
I fought the Germans all the way across France. In that distance, I never say a single French soldier. Don't say they were disarmed because weapons and ammunition were abondoned by the Germans by the ton.
There's an old joke. For sale French army rifle, never fired, dropped once.

I don't hate French people. My husband and I are planning a trip to Paris next Spring so that would be hypocritical. I think it is just a stereotype that the French are rude and hate Americans. I am sure some are rude, just like in any country. We have helped them out too, in WWII. We also supported the French Revolution. But I agree, French hating is kinda trashy.

I do not hate the French.
I think that they are not good allies for the U.S.
Not all people are the same and some French are very nice.
Others are very rude and have a bad reputation for being rude to Americans. I have witnessed this in Paris and know it to be true.
I don't think that they are important enough for us to hate but, given their past criticisms of the U.S., I do not support them and have little desire to visit their country again. In fact, I just refused a trip. Sorry, just being honest.

I'm American and I love the French. Vous Parlez en Francais? Anyway, people just think they aren't nice to us because they let us down once in a while. No one understands other ethnicities - they just go by propoganda and don't research anything for themselves. Sure, there are some bad people in France, but there are plenty of them in America as well!!

Because they know little or nothing about heir own history. After all it was the French who helped Washington and the Continental Army to fight and beat the English in the War of Independence.

Hatred against certain nations, religions, colours shows a lack of education.
Prejudice is a sign of stupidity and narrowmindedness.
Unfortunately you can still find it anywhere in the world. I don´t particularly think the French are more hated than anybody else. They are only slimmer and more sophisticated, so it´s rather jealousy

I can state that most of the "French-Hate" is really done with humor in mind. Think of Monty Python's Holy Grail movie, we just make fun of them cuz it's funny to us. It's only a select few with a "hate" if you can call it that. We have our differences and they do things that here in the US we don't like. So it goes both ways and no country's hands are clean.
