I know a nice guy who is stoned all the time! he holds down a job but apart from this his time is spent watching tv or sleeping! He rarely socialises and is terrible for conversation -surely he can't be happy this way!!

he's just doing that because thats what he wants to do, i dont think he can be happy too..but at this moment all the things he does now could comfort him...try to be a friend and not try to change him around..only when he decides to make a change will he make one...
lets just hope for the best shall we......

A lot of people have a pot habit, even though it may not be physically addictive it can be very mentally addictive. This person may be happy this way because his goal may be to support himself while staying very stoned and free and clear of the myriad of responsibilities people involved in active daily lives must endure. Don't place your paradigm on this man. Ask him if he's happy this way. He may be and he may not be. You may find he will talk with you about this if you are caring and genuine in your concern for his overall well being. He may prefer the hold pot has on him versus the hold that money and tons of other responsibilities would have on him. That's his choice and it's his life to live based on the choices he makes.
I'm sure he would be flattered that you cared enough to ask.

Yes-- its called drug abuse and many of us do it without realising. If it didn't make us feel good there would be no point..
Pronlem with any drug is that we get addicted-- our bodys adjust and then when we dont take it-- we get unpleasant side effects. In moderation is the only way but people go that one step further. People that take puff dont care about life-- they are in this bubble-- nobody and nothing can touch them but what they fail to realise is what happens when it all runs out..
Anti-social and unable to hold a conversation long enough because their brains are so pickled that they cant tell reality from fantaasy.. leave em be-- they will realise one day

Probably just got into it at a young age and is now so used to it, he doesn't know better.
