If they have not hired you on as an employee after that long, you need to get out and FAST. They obviously do not value you. It looks really bad for a company to keep temps on that long without doing one thing or another to them, and they know that. If they aren't in talks with you about hiring you on full time, then they may be in talks of doing the opposite, since you've been there so long. The upside is that you have quite a long history with them, which looks good to other companies. I don't know your age, but if you are young, that is a huge plus in your favor. Go to another staffing agency on a day off, since you seem to be getting them, and talk to them about finding another job. You deserve more money than that as well, especially if you are a good, hardworking employee.
It can be very difficult to work with several women, trust me, I know. Especially when they are all wanting the same thing, a competitive nature comes out. It is time to find a job where you aren't working with tons of competition. Make sure to update your resume and list all your accomplishments at this company. If you need any other advice on resume stuff or looking for a job, let me know!

I think the first thing you should do is call your Temp agency and tell your counselor all of the issues that you're having at your current assignment. They might have some information about your position that you don't know about. They also might get you another assignment.
Another step would be to have a private conference with your supervisor at your current assignment. Ask him/her about your work performance and why you're not getting called in for work.
In my opinion, it's time to leave that establishment. After temping for a year and a half, you should've been offered the permanent job by now. You are much better and worth more than $6.50, anyway!

First, are you staffed though an agency? If so just tell them that you need a new assignment. Otherwise I would just put your resume on Monster.com and keep looking in the papers. Maybe your particular position has slowed down and the others haven't. I used to temp and it was a day to day thing. If you're not with an agency consider signing up with one. Just hoof your resume around and be persistent. Follow up phone calls. Send it everywhere. If you are that desperate to get out of that office, McD's is always hiring. Just a suggestion until you can get somewhere where you feel comfortable.
Good Luck

The thing about being a temp is that you are not part of the company. There is no loyalty or interest in keeping you growing from a development perspective.
If you are working for an agency, then you should work with them to figure out a next step. Otherwise I recommend finding something else.

I agree with looking for another. Heck, you can go to McD's and make $7 for opening usually. I would also ask the supervisor why you aren't working. There are some situation where you will still get unemployment for quiting. You would have to talk to someone at the unemployment agency about your situation.

Maybe you should ask your boss if you can talk to he/she in private and ask what is exactly going on. Explain that you know that work is slowing down but you've been feeling as if your no longer wanted there. Then explain to him why, but try to stick to facts like not being called in for work and such and not the gossiping and backstabbing thats going on. Cause as much as it may be true that sort of stuff is going on it dosent help your image when you are passing it on to the boss.

It's timet to start looking for another job. Don't quit the one you have until you know you have the other one first. If your feeling unappreciated...don't stay. You've been working there for so long already... other companies would hire you since you've already got some experience.

IF I WERE IN YOUR SHOES I WOULD LOOK FOR A NEW JOB WHEN THEY ARE NOT NEEDING YOU. THAT IS A PERFECT TIME TO BE LOOKING FOR A JOB. DON'T WAIT TO DRAW UNEMPLOYMENT WHEN YOU HAVE THE TIME NOW. IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST EMPLOYEES AND THEY DON'T REALIZE IT NOW, THEN THEY WILL WHEN YOU ARE GONE. THERE IS ALWAYS A BETTER JOB OUT THERE. PEOPLE JUST HAVE TO BE DEDICATED ENOUGH TO GET OUT AND LOOK. MOST PEOPLE SAY THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME. YOU HAVE TIME ON YOUR SIDE. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR YOU.
