i have several people in my life that I would trust with my life. And they have said the same. Most people I know trust several people, if not more.

I feel like this question doesn't work because life doesn't usually work in binaries.

Sounds like you got hurt so badly. It's not a myth at all, and I bet you still can trust someone even to the slightest extent, even not completely. So it is a real experience but with varying degrees. So if you're pertaining to "complete trust", then maybe that's an ideal that is rarely achieved ;)

There are only so many people in your life that you can trust. Even those who are closest to you may hurt you. May be not with direct intention to do so, but when they commit these acts they usually know who will be affected. Don't give up trusting others though. You can give a person a certain amount of trust without losing a part of yourself if they break it, you just have to be intuitive enough to decide how to handle others. The only person I trust completely in my life in my brother. He's always there for me and looks out for my best intrests. Not my parents or even my husband. You can love someone while still reserving some parts of yourself. Know what not who you can depend on.

you can trust someone to act within the limitations of their character. If you share a lottery ticket with a close friend and win a million, you had better be sure that you have the ticket, not her. Friendship, trust, loyalty or whatever only goes so far, ever.

I think it is completely possible. However, there are many more people out there that aren't worthy of your trust.

If you are lucky, there may be one or two people in your life that you can trust. Me, I only trust my mommy.
