I think a squirrl got the flower before it even had a chance to bloom

Yes. It'll grow another one back... lots of time remaining in the growing season. A new stalk will sprout.

That's the reason you grow sunflowers - for the squirrels and birds.

Next year you can plant the ones with multiple heads.

no it wont they only grow one flower per stem if it was going to grow another the flower would already be forming
