Bluegrass is the root of country music of today. Bluegrass uses more fiddles, banjos and mandolins and has a traditional sound whereas country music uses more electric guitars, drums, and can sound more like pop music (especially today's country).

Country music sucks. Bluegrass dosn't. Bluegrass is more real....more...i dunno....down home....Country is just a buncha whiney bullshit. The actual music in bluegrass is much more complicated and advanced. Country has turned into pop music these days anyway. Check out Yonder Mountain String Band for some realllyyy good bluegrass with a modern twist.

Country was originally a product of blues, Bluegrass came from Irish folk.

Bluegrass is more home feeling country music with more accostical instruments. Bluegreass is what Country was before Country became mainstream and tried to imulate rock.
I personnally like some bluegrass but most of it sounds too twangy for me.

Bluegrass has its roots in Appalachia, as far back as the 18th century.....it's early versions used mostly homemade instruments, and has evolved from those times, but still very folk music based......Country music, as we know it today, mainly originated in the early part of the 20th Century, and took a few notes from Bluegrass.........:-)

Neither are good but bluegrass is (depending on your take):
- like the classical of the country world
- like the speed metal of the country world.

Bluegrass has different roots. Also instruments are different (usually no drummer) and uses ins. like banjo, dobro, mouth harp, mandolin, and acoustic bass (rather than bass guitar).

Bluegrass' roots come from apalachia and folk music of the mountains and hills of southern states like tennesee (I think).

well, bluegrass started country, and it has more of a roots sound. very simple, very raw. country is more of a commercialized version of it.
