It all depends... I'd have to say freshman year is ridiculously hard in many ways, since you have no idea what's going on and the teachers will say "you're not in middle school anymore" on average every 10 seconds
but once you get beyond that, it's a much more educational and social experience. You will start to get clear ideas on what to do with your life and what type of person you'll spend it with

Much harder than middle school - much easier than college. Some people loved their high school years - other people hated every minute of those years. I like college much better than high school - but had to go to high school first to get here.
