Have you ever noticed, when you're looking through a magazine or anything that is advertising wrist watches, the time is always set at 10:10? The next time you see something that is advertising wrist watches, look at the time it is set on. I don't really notice it with wall watches, it's mostly wrist watches.

Yes, that is industry standard; they've been doing it for years and years. It's the most attractive and appealing way to display the product.

By putting the hour hand on the ten and the minute hand on the two, the area under the twelve (where the manufacturer's name is usually located) can be easily seen. I have no idea why they would do this for digital watches or clocks unless it was just tradition.

They have the watches set at 10:10, cause it makes it looks like the clock is smiling.

You made me look. To be fair a couple were at 10:09. It must be something they found to be most appealing to the eye.
