Making English the official language would only weaken the United States. We certainly shouldn't cater to the politically-correct cowards who are promoting the "English only" laws. The U.S. is better than that.

English is already the working language. Passing such a bill is only symbolic anyway. Why do Republicans keep wasting time on bills that are nothing but symbolic?
Utterly ridiculous.
Oh, and by the way, I love the girl who lists the 38 Senators and says they're all Democrats!!! - when it's clear that one was a Republican and one was an Independent.

because it really is a meaningless project and may purely lose help considering those who somewhat care already vote Republican. yet as my colleagues and that i discussed at present, what does that even advise? What may making English the nationwide language even do? Aren’t all valid U.S. documents and different supplies already revealed in English? just about, this style of call for may have 0 result on society. college books, rules, legislations, street signs and indicators and ballots are already in English. Are that many people easily in touch that English is in possibility of turning into the minority language in us of a of america? And what’s to resign Congress from passing legislations down the line installation Spanish because the nationwide language, too? (In Canada, both English and French are valid languages; the united kingdom has six different valid languages as well English.)

The first answer person is an idiot. Since the formation of the United States, the founding fathers were very aware of the diverse cultures that the colonies had, and could forsee the future of a multi-cultural environment. Many people spoke french in the colonies, and in some parts of the country still do. Now Spanish is very prevalent in many parts of the nation. If the founding fathers could see the value of multi-culturalism, why can't we.

You're actually surprised by that?
This is the same party that felt we 'deserved 911' in some way.
Remember, Liberals and Democrats hold other cultures above our own... because we're the bad guys... 100% of the time.
I think you need to start voting for another party, it doesn't have to be the Republicans.... join the Libertarians like me!

They are afraid to lose votes from the Mexican population. Take a look back at how Bill Clinton catered to the Mexican population of New York just before Hillary ran there.

They are pandering to the Hispanics. Having said that there are Hispanics who want English as our national language.

It is because they don't want to offend anyone. They want to get the spanish votes. I get so p***ed off when I see people who move here (illegally or legally, but of course, illegally p***es me off more) and expect us to know their language. I also dilike when AMERICANS go somewhere and expect Italians or Brazilians or whomever else is native to their place of visiting to know english.
