At some point we must consider the reality of an ever expanding population on a fixed surface area planet. Keeping in mind that our current DNA and cellular makup is not "space friendly" for any extended period of time - current estimates have the world population at about 6.5 billion. The projected growth rate by 2050 is estimated to be 10 billion. 40 to 50 million a year is a safe average to expect forever unless we control the growth. That's bout 4 persons per second. It's obvious our natural resources will be stressed very soon = within the next 100 years. Considering cultures, religion and governments - how do we put reasonable control factors on population growth and control?

Just leave it alone. Any problem left unattended long enough WILL resolve itself! (One way or another. No promises that the denouement will be pleasant.)

You appear to be challenging a person's human right to family, and suggest someone is to play god and decide who should have children and who should not and if so how many they should have. Do we not criticize China for having a one child per family policy (which still leads to many deaths or abandonment's in the countryside where a female child may been seen as not as useful on the farm as a male child).
The answer is in education, people have to understand the foreseeable problems of over population and their role and responsibilities in that. We would then just hope that most would be responsible enough to re-act to this knowledge. Problem is most people live by the "here and now" philosophy not caring what happens as long as they get what they want when they want it.
Additionally medicine has advanced so people are living longer, having children later in life and having more of them; people with diseases are less likely to die. Dispite this little thought is given in many countries as to how many children to have. I have a friend in Africa who has had 13 children; 4 of which dies of disease and 2 at child birth. Had all these had lived this person would not have been able to afford to keep their family clothed and fed, but I doubt that this would have stopped them having that amount of children.
Brace yourself for another world war over wealth and resources. Ooops already started in Iraq!

People need to be educated. As is our natural resources are suffering. The thing is though we could never ask people not to reproduce, it is the single most important thing in life that is why we are here to reproduce and raise our children to lead good lives. What we can do is strive to better our environment. Recycle and reuse is still the best way to go. As long as people strive to respect the environment and nature we will always have it.

Two children per household, one to replace each parent when they die. I think three even is maybe okay, because you never know what is going to happen. But after two or three, people should be responsible enough on their own to look for a more permanent and fool proof form of birth control. I know that after I give birth to our second, I am going to look into something more permanent, it just responsible, like spay or neutering your pets.....

Birth control would help but the Pope forbids it. Doesn't want to lessen the ammount of Catholics he can rule over and collect funds from.

We need to do what China has done and put a child limit for every house hold. except that regardless of the sex of the baby you can not put them for adoption.
