Hello, with a situation like this it would be the wise idea of talking with your daughter and consulting with the babies doctor. There may be an underlying condition and it may not be just fat. The possibility of something more serious is there due to the fact that fat does not normally grow in excess on the back of the neck in infants. Also because the child holds the head at an angle to the pocket could mean a spinal problem that is showing itself or something else.
Please, as a mother, and a grandmother, I beg you to seek medical attention for your grandchild as soon as possible.

Oh.. I do not like that.. you have a reason to be concerned. I am sure you have taken the baby to the doctor prior and am surprised that he/she did not notice the extra plump muscle on the side of the neck.. If not.. do recommend that you do so soonest.

Mention this to your daughter. She will know that you are only concerned for the baby. Your daughter should take the baby to her Pediatrician and get checked. It could be nothing but being chubby, but it never hurts to find out for sure. I hope this helps.

I know that you can develop extra fat on your back from bad posture as you age, I'm not sure about babies but you should definately take her to the doctor, it should be improved incase it could get worse.

I would point it out to your daughter and have the doctor look at it at her next check up. Better safe than sorry.
