it doesn't matter what type of car you learn on, each is different but the civics i find are a little bit easier to control especially if your a newb. something with low horse power and low torque is always easiest.
Good Luck.

each car with a stick shift is going to be a little different. I suggest learning on the car you will be driving. I learned how to drive a stick on a truck and then bought a sports car that was a stick. I had to learn all over again.

A car with a hand controlled parking brake is the easiest because you can use it to hold the car in place while you are facing uphill so you don't drift backwards and hit someone. Hope I have been helpful.

Driving a manual shift is a good skill to have.
If it makes you comfortable , a similar car might help, but
a good teacher will help you learn to drive anything.
