Superman Returns: He fights for truth, justice, AND ALL THAT STUFF!!

Superman is an American Hero! Why change the good old TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND THE AMERICAN WAY?!?!?

Was it just because they are worried about world wide ticket sales?

because for all the big showing of so called "patriotism" after 9- 11 the reality is American Pride is a dying thing and Hollywood perpetuates the idea of the melting of America into a one world system. You won't see too many movies waving the American flag and being proud of our heritage, democracy, justice and freedom! We no longer have any more 'American Heros' we have given them all up for a lie and it is sad.

What is the 'American Way' anymore? Superman is an American icon, but he's a fading one. We're too far gone from being innocent and believing, when a hero like Superman could captivate us. We are too caught up in all of this technology, ppl don't think we need that kind of thing anymore. It's sad! A hero brings everyone together, under something strong and reliable. But in our world today everyone is too far apart. Superman is the untouchable super hero. He is perfect. More people turn to Spiderman or some one with a flaw, some one that's human. It's not a matter of fantasy anymore. It's what the people will watch. And even though i wasn't that sure i wanted to see the movie, i did, and i found myself rooting for Superman to make it through. So, even though 'the american way' isn't in some catchy phrase for what Superman fights for, he's still a symbol of hope for us. He's something to hold on to in this messed up world of ours. A hero. We need a hero!

Well, yes, it goes better for an international market, but they could of did some editing and kept it in for the U.S. market. Superman was created by two Jewish men in the late 30's, take that into consideration and WWII - the catch phase of American Way rallied people together; one would think with what we faced after 9/11, that we could still use a slogan like that.

What because america has a monopoly on truth and justice???

The way things have been through the last century it would appear americas monopoly is more along the lines of untruth and injustice.

And superman is kryptonian, not american.

Idiot.

I think we are a more global community now, and our media reflects that. It's not like Superman wouldn't save someone in another country. Superman is not just America's hero, he is everyone's hero.

Times have changed. We don't need make believe heroes in today's world. We need real heroes.

Our soldiers (whether you agree with the war or not) are fighting every day in Iraq for people they don't even know (or care about). They are heroes. They don't have capes, they can't fly and yes, bullets do go through them.

Superman isn't real!!!

Because he is to perfect. Nobody really relates to him. That is why Spiderman has overtaken Superman as the most popular super hero. We can all relate to Spiderman because he has problems just like we all do.

Because the so called "American Way " which is currently prat iced by the American government is so repulsive that the movie would have tanked at the box office in the US and abroad if that line had been kept. besides, he is supposed to save the world not America alone. His trip to Krypton must have taught him that.............
