I worked someplace that was 24 hours and we would have to lock the door if there was a robbery, tornado, gas pump explosion and what have ya lol. But the funny part was it had been so long no one had a key anymore. So we couldn't lock them from the outside anyway.

Because people can still sneak in. I mean seriously. They might have to close it down for some reason, and they don't have any locks, someone could sneak in, steal from the slushy machine and run away. Then 711 would lose money.

It's for security reasons. Most all-night convenience stores have locked doors, where you have to buzz the attendant if you want to be let in. It's to stop potential troublemakers from getting into the store.

For when someone gets held ransom in the place. That way, the robbers/muggers can lock it up and negotiate with the police for their money. Don't you watch the movies?

so that if there is another hurricane katrina and all businesses are ordered to close, the store can be safeguarded...or maybe, companies charge more for speicalty doors without locks.

I think it's an insurance thing. In order to be insured with certain companies there are regulations that have to be met.
