Much has been made about the muslim republics in the Middle East and the fact that so much of their lives are dictated by their faiths.
When you look around America right now, do you see the same thing happening, only substituting religons? Has XTiananity become the religous standard around which Americans rally?
If you do think so, how comfortable are you with that fact?
If you don't see it, what role do you see religon playing currently in America?
And regardless of your thoughts on this question, what role (increasing? decreasing?) do you see religion playing in our future?
(FYI - I'm not for or against any religion or belief system. I'm just wondering...)

I advocate freedom, whether it is of speech or religion. Actually, a fact that most naive Christian Americans don't know of is that most of the founders of the US were atheists. Take a look at the dollar, it's packed with masonic symbolism. The "In God we trust" bull crap was added later on. Here are some quotes for you:
"The government of the United States is not in any sense founded upon the
Christian religion."
"The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity."
"This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in
it."
- John Adams (1735-1826)
2nd president of the U.S.
"Question with boldness even the existence of God; because if there be one,
he must more approve the homage of reason than that of blind fear."
"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."
"The Christian God is cruel, vindictive, capricious and unjust."
"Religions are all alike-founded on fables and mythologies."
- Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)
"What has been the fruits of Christianity?...superstition, bigotry and
persecution."
- James Madison
4th president of the U.S.
"I do not believe in the immortality of the soul."
"I doubt the divinity of Jesus although I agree with his moral teachings."
- Benjamin Franklin
Today America has become a Christianity machine, fighting evil Muslims all over the world, with a president that thinks he's some sort of savior.

The united states was founded on christian beliefs. In the United States you are free to worship as you choose. There is no state sanctioned church that you must join. The Christians in this country have no more influence that any other group. The Christians use to be part of the silent majority, and when they felt that the morals and laws were degrading so far down they have risen up and are making their voice heard. They are only reacting and protecting the moral integrity of this nation for future generations.

Ther is a thing called the first amenment that allows people to practice any religion they want. However for some reason people can't buy beer on Sunday morning. I heard the idea is that ppl are suposed to be at church. That'z funny, because not everyone is christian and not every christian goes to church.

I'm a heathen-american, meaning I don't consider myself part of any religious group or institution, and my experience is that the 'in ya FACE' factor is much LESS with your average christian than with others. I'm referring to your New Testament christians, though, you got your old testament types out there with the fire n brimstone, of course they gotta yell about something all day long or they're just not happy campers...just stay a good stone's throw away from those guys...LOL

I'm extremely uncomfortable with it. Separation of church and state was put in the Constitution for a very good reason. It protects the churches as much as it protects anyone, because it allows people the freedom to choose how to worship. Trying to legislate "Christian" morality with hate-based legislation like the anti-gay marriage amendment is a blatant violation of separation of church and state that would harm all of us, including the Christians. (For the record, I'm straight but I believe in equal rights for everyone. You should too if you call yourself an American)

America was founded as a christian country. I want it to stay that way. but do you realize how far away america has come from its original beginning? This country is falling away, and the farther it gets from God, the worse off we are going to be.
