Welllllllll... Batman wants to prevent any other 8-year-olds from losing their parents in a back-alley behind a theater in the pale moon light.

Christian Bale has been signed for three more Batman movies plus a possible Batman/Superman movie with Brandon Routh. And about the character, he's NOT gay, & he just wants to prevent another tragedy he experienced as a kid by losing his parents so that no one else will ever suffer such fate.

Batman is paranoid. He created Brother Eye to spy on all the other super heroes in the DC Universe. He's also deathly afraid of Superman. Why else would the guy carry around a piece of Kryptonite hidden in his utility belt? He has serious issues. Thank God he's just a fictional character.

In the comic books, an eight-year old Bruce Wayne witnessed his parents deaths at the gun of a petty thief (although some storylines now claim that this was the Joker before he turned pale and gained the green hair) and swore on his parents graves that he would bring all criminals to justice.
Wayne has dedicated his life and family fortune to keeping that promise by becoming the Batman.
The Dark Knight is driven and totally dedicated to achieving this objective.
