what it means to be a wife, He says they don't cook or clean any more or want to take care of the kids.. He says he's traveled the world and women from other countries respect their men and american women don't.. I told him he shouldn't think this way and that I would post it and ask the world what they thought...

well, actually partly it is true. im an american living abroad now in italy. and i can understand how your friend puts it that way. but the reason why women dont want to cook, dont want to have kids soons, is simply because they are INDUSTRIAL. realize how much the united states is ahead of other countries. here in italy women are beginnng their first generation in studying and being educated, before it was never like that. about a good 95% of mothers of past generation are house wives, who have to cook, clean, take of the children, ecc... in america that generation is long gone, for example ME i dont plant o have kids soon and neither do i really find interest in cooking. i rather go out in the world and make my own money, i dont need my future husband to support me.

the point is, your friend, mistakens women in america as 'spoiled' when really they arent, they are educated and dont want to 'cook' and 'clean' leave that for the men to clean AS WELL.

for example in my situation, i live here in florence with my bf, i NEVER EVER do the cooking here, to be truthful, i dont even know how to cook rice, and why is that?? my mother never really taught me this, and why didnt she?? becaus she was always working full time as an accountant, she wasnt like the type of mom who spend the time to tell her daughter 'oh honey! do want to learn how to learn how to make some rice??' she was always in and out of the house being busy and everything and as well as my dad, same thing. and look at my bf here in italy, why is it that he knows how to cook real well?? his mother instead has always been the housewife who cleaned and cooked and had the time to teach her son the basic needs. its a good thing, but im just pointing out the reason WHY women have evolved to not like to cook or clean, im sure there are billions of others who grew up the same way as i did but still love to cook and clean, but like i said, im just answering your question to what your friend says.

The thing is that in America, women have rights now. We are not slaves to men anymore. Women are involved in the working world and and now taking care of children is both a job for the man and the woman. Cleaning the house is also both a job for man and woman.

It's not that we don't respect men. We all respect each other, that's what marraige is about. Equalness.

A women was not put on this earth to cook and clean for men. I dont think its so much that women from other countries respect their men, they just need them around for $$$$$. Here in America more women can support themselves and have discovered that men really are not necessary for anything other than sperm. Decades and decades of you men treating women like sh*t has finally caught up with you. Go find wives from other countries. Once those countries catch up and women can support themselves believe me things will change. F*ck all of you chauvinist good for nothing bastards.

I work a 8 to 5 job and raise 4 children, cook, clean and take care of my husband. I'm not spoiled but I do like to eat out so no dishes, etc... Maybe your friend is looking in the wrong neighborhood.

Your "friend" is an idiot and obviously has had bad luck finding a sane American woman who would want to do things for him. If he was actually worthy of being respected and he actually respected women in general, he should have no problem finding a loving female to do nice things no matter where she's from. What your friend wants is a mother.

it isnt fair to say all american women dont do these things! alot of them do..... and we respect men, we just demand respect back from them instead of being like the doormats of the world!

im perfectly happy to take care of my husband, home, and kids...in fact its what i want to do someday, but im not going to let my husband demand this of me! if women were treated better and with a bit more respect we would do so much for you men out of love and the fact that we want to be good wives, but damn it cuts both ways! i bet he's a worthless and controlling husband - or will be!

i think that he is right when he says that but let me tell you something. Society is getting hella lazy i mean this is the same people that brought the electric can opener. Can we be anymore lazy, we are inventing stuff to do everything for us and it's making us even more lazier. White women cook everything out of boxes. Let me just say this if you love your man with that automatically comes respect. and if you love him you are willing to do whatever it takes to keep him happy. that includes cooking and cleaning. it just so happens that this has become the standard.

I think your friend is crazy. If my man is taking care of me then I will take care of him it is two way street. As for the kids that is not the sole responsibility of a woman. Men must take an active role in rearing children or what is there purpose?
