The philosophy is not limited to the Dalai Lama but includes those like Ghandi and Martin Luther King. The concept will continue to inspire generations of people who will build monuments and memorialize the efforts of those few who take the difficult path of not reacting to the anger and hatred violence generates with more violence.
I believe the philosophy, which I would describe as "not believing revenge is an entitlement," is a basic solution such as exercise and diet are a solution to obesity or earning more and spending less are a solution to debt problems. It is the way to solve the problem of conflict and violence itself.

It is not true for him (he's admitted it) and it is not true for most of us. It is an idea only, an aspiration. A nice idea but an idea nonetheless. Non-violence may become a reality but our violent animal nature seems to be pretty dominant at the moment. Better to look at and understand violence than focus on its opposite.

I think there are a lot of people who practice non violence, but what the world understands is violence. They usually don't understand that you don't have to kill everyone in order to make a point.

Never, thousands of years of "evolution" and no evidence that humans are any less violent. Only if violence can been removed from our DNA.

If you want it to be a reality, it will be. You decide what your reality is.
