I am eating right, will the baby be okay?

It could be. You need to talk with your doctor though. Never be afraid to call him/her and ask questions.

Now is not the time to diet. You need to be eating good and increase your milk intake. Usually 2 more glasses is what the doctor will suggest, but then again, you need to talk to them to see what they want you to be doing. All doctors are different.

You did not say if you were having "morning" sickness or not. If you're vomiting and loosing all that weight, then there are things that can be done for that too.

The baby will get it's nutrients from you. You will be the one missing out on vitamins and you need yours too. Make sure to take your prenatal vitamins every day too. Stay hydrated in all this heat...and actually try to stay out of the heat when you can.

If you were overweight to begin with, loosing some won't really hurt anything much...if you were way underweight, then 9 pounds is a lot to loose.

Give the doc a call just to make sure. Even talk with the nurse. They can guide you in the right direction.

Good luck!

weight loss in early pregnancy is normal, specially if you've suffered morning sickness, lack of appetite etc.

However, at 12 weeks you should now start having more calories each day (not that much, you don't need to eat for two), so as long as you are eating a nutritionally rich healthy diet you and baby should be fine. The baby will go through a growth spurt now so you should start gaining weight through the baby and all that goes with it (fluid etc).

If you continue to loose weight then I would definately suggest you speak to your Doctor or Midwife.

Good luck with everything.

When I first got pregnant, I lost alot of weight. The Dr told me not to worry about it at that point, that in the first few weeks, some weight loss is normal. You just need to eat a good diet and drink plenty of fluids and take your vitamins. Good luck on your new baby

It's perfectly fine as long as you are heating healthy. Were you overweight when you got pregnant? I am and I am also 12wks pregnant. I have started to eat very healthy when I found out I was pregnant and I have lost weight. My doctor is fine with it. Eat healthy and get at least 30 min exercise everyday and take your vitamins. IF you are really concerned talk to you OB.

Yes, the baby will get all the nutrients before you will. It is normal for some mom's to lose weight before gaining it in the beginning. Just make sure you are taking your vitamins every day.

It can be normal, especially if you have morning sickness. Usually, pregnant women sleep more so you might not be eating as much. Check with your doctor or midwife if you are concerned, though.
