I'm trying to get onto lime wire and this message keeps popping up.

"Lime wire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking lime wire's access to the internet or loop back connections on the local machine. Please allow lime wire access to the internet and restart lime wire."

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS MEANS AND HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM? THANKS!

Your firewall software is preventing Limewire from coming in.
If you are at work or school, there is nothing you can do.

If you are at home, then pull up your firewall and set it to allow Limewire. If you have a security suite like McAfee or Norton, just double click the icon and look for Firewall on the tabs. Or, if you are using the built in firewall from winXP, then hit 'help' and search for firewall to find out how to allow certain programs.

If you disable the firewall, you disable your protection from meanies getting into your computer!

*Assuming* Lime Wire is a program you can trust (It looks OK, I just..er..looked it up) It's a freeware file sharing program reviewed by PCWorld.com, who seem to like it then the message means pretty much what it says.

A Firewall is a guard at your computer's gate to the internet. I think XP's firewall is just incoming and wouldn't cause this. Other firewalls block or allow outgoing access on a program by program basis--they keep a trusted list. Usually, such a firewall would pop up a message saying something like "Lime Wire is trying to access the Internet. Allow?" and if you trust Lime Wire you would answer yes. You might have to give it other permissions, too.

Try it again and see if you get such a message from your firewall. If not, you'll have to figure out what firewall you have installed and enable such messages. There *should* be an icon in the system tray (lower right, depending on where your Taskbar is) you can double click.

Search for directions on changing your firewall settings. Open up firewall and look through settings or go to help. I dont know what type of firewall you have to assist you further.

your Firewalll is blocking... that check your Firewall probably... Zonealarm.... if you haven't installed any then Check windows Firewall in control pannel (Xp sp2 only)..... and disable... don't worry.. it's not going to protect you... so disabling also won't make anay changes......

- - but you need Firewall.. get black ice pc protection.... it won't block limewire... but Network attacks.. nice.. software...
