i recently put an item up for sale on the net. a person told me that he would buy it but he was going to send a postal money order but it requires that i mail the package in order to get the money order sent to my residence. here's what the email from the post office said........The Money OrderSM will NOT be dispatched or get to your resident until the shipment has been verified. This measure is taken in order to protect both seller and buyer's interests and to reduce the occurrence of fraudulent activities. so has anyone ever used this before and is it legit? i have never even heard of this so please any info would help.

Hi reyes,

Be careful, this may be a scam.

Craigslist.com is currently experiencing the same type of fraud amongst some of their users.

The people selling are getting offers from people who are saying that they will send a money order or cashiers check.

The seller then gets an email that looks real from the United States Post Office or another intermediary saying all's okay, send the product.

You send the product, and one of the following will happen, 1. Seller never receives the Money order, or 2. The money order or cashiers check comes and it's phony.

Good Luck,
~Trey

Sounds like they are the middleman, they have collected the money, but will not give it to you intill you send the item. Just verify that they have the money, and where and when you can get it once you prove you have shipped it.
