Um, mopeds have to be less than 50cc.

Anyway, if you want to ride a 125, have you passed your CBT?

If you are over 40 then you should already have a provisional entitlement for the bike if you already have a full car licence, so you need your CBT ( approx £120) which will enable you to get insurance for the bike you are buying.

This will give you two years in which to take your full motorcycle test but you will have to display L plates.

To obtain your full licence for the bike you need to sit your theory test (£30) and your class A motorcycle test ( £200 / £250 depending on experience).

Everything has to be booked, so you normally look for a week or so to get a CBT test, Theories can take up to six weeks depending on how busy they are, test practicals can be another six weeks.

For insurance try Bennetts, been using them for years and give a good quote, but beware, even at 40 you are likely to be stung for £200/300 fully comp.

If you are going the whole hog and taking your full bike test, don't bother with the 125, do the 'Direct Access' test and you will be able to ride unlimited,\the training is superb (usually) and insurance premiums much lower.
