Why is it difficult to speak the truth?

It seems so. Its only an myth. But if you analyse it, its very simple and it is not so.
Do'nt we say to our children to always speak nothing but the truth? So what examples are we setting for them if we start telling lies. One should, i think always live a 'single' personality. I know if i am simple and truthful i can be happy in mi life and have a loving family. What and why are we all lying to others? The benefits are not worth lying for. There is an adage..there are always two different ways of doing things, one the simple one in which we take a short-cut, do not struggle, do not face hardships, do not tredge the difficult path, it gives us pleasure (momentary) ; second the difficult one or the one full of struggles and challenges, hardships, difficult path to walk on but at the end we experience bliss, happiness, joy and lasting peace. It is difficult to speak the truth because the truth you are talking about is not put forward in the right and nice perspective .Just imagine two persons speaking the same truth , one put it harshly an blunt ,the other polite and discreet ,which way do you think shall achieve its purpose ;so people who wish to speak the truth should learn to art of speaking,without hurting the sentiment of the receiver, so that our society can also learn how to apprecaite nice and soothing but truth .right ?!

Because truth exposes who you really are and because the many differences in society and judgements of others, it's alot more easier to hide behind a lies. I personally find it easier to be real no matter how hard it is for others to handle, I feel life is only an experience and wasting your time not being ones self is a waste of that life. I experience more difficulty in fabricating lies. Truth is easy to maintain, or rather maintenance-free, so that's easy for me. Whether others like what I am saying, that is entirely up to them.
