I know this sounds weird, but use newspaper instead of paper towels. It cleans glass really well and almost never leaves streaks (or lint like towels would).

For a natural glass cleaner without streaks use vinegar and newspapers. For a really good manufactured cleaner I use Sprayway in a white can with blue writing. You can get it at some car wash businesses however I get multiple packs from Sam's Club. The cleaner is ammonia free and cleans like a dream even with paper towels! Good Luck!

Window cleaning is impacted by several factors.

How hot is the glass. If it is too hot, you need to use more liquid and work smaller areas.

Type of dirt on the glass.
cigarette smoke cooking grease smoke vaporized plastic(cars) require stronger detergents.

Type & amount of detergent

Dish detergents that contain lotion or bacteria preventers will leave contamanents.

Alcohol and Amonia will vaporize leaving clear glass.

Hard water will leave deposits if allowed to dry on the glass. Viniger will reduce this.

Whether you use paper or cotton towels, use enough where the final wipe of the glass is made by a dry one. This is the key as if the towel is still wet, you are leaving a residue on the Glass!

Never heard of the newspaper, but I've noticed that glass cleaners with ammonia don't leave streaks. That's what I usually buy. Also, a lint free paper is best to use.

The paper towel may be the problem. Try using a peice of newspaper. I know it sounds funny, but boy does it work. Hope that helps with the streaks.

Hot water (5cups), 1/2 cup vinegar & 3 drops of dish liquid. Using a washrag and/or scrubby, clean a small area at a time, wipe dry with newspaper then a very clean old Tshirt. Do it in the sun so glass dries faster.

I've heard of using a 50/50 mix of water & peroxide to clean windows. Then wipe it off using newspaper.

No, it's not paper towels. If you are doing it in sunlight of any kind as well you will always have streaks, or if the surface is warm.
