How come? Which would give me the best long-term results? I've always been interested in going to a tanning salon, but I'm unsure as to how many times I'd need to go in order to achieve a natural looking tan (I'm fairly pale) and/or if I would need to continue going in order to keep the tan. Any information would be extremely helpful.

I prefer the tanning bed because it only takes 15 minutes each time you go and if you use a skin moisturizer afterwords it will last. Also after you go to a tanning bed a few times, your skin is better prepared for the sun and I have never burned after that when I went to the beach.

As far as to how long you should go in, ask the person working there, they can tell you.

Both emit ultraviolet rays and are therefore bad for the skin. I went on a cruise once and did tan in a tanning booth so I would not burn while on the cruise. I got a 'base-tan'. If you decide to go to a tanning booth, the person running it should be able to tell you how often and how long to stay in. They don't want to see you burn either. And you would need to go continually to keep a tan. But not as often, once you get your base-tan; maybe once a month. Check with people who have tanning booths. They should have you fill out a form and be able to best advise you. But remember, tanning also dries out your skin. Maybe pale soft skin is better, in the long run. Good luck and God bless.

Skin follows a biological timeline, by decades of life. During your 20s and 30s, the first wrinkles start to appear and skin becomes less resistant as elasticity declines and gravity begins to take hold. In your 40s and 50s, repetitive movements form the first permanent wrinkles as genetics, gravity and a decrease in collagen and elastin cause skin and muscle to sag. The scrubs stimulates your skin's timeline to regenerate more often and it will help you with the dark skin. The rays from the sun: UVA and UVB.... UVA is the one that destroys your elasticin and collagen (the same ones that when we grow older they start the diminish the production) and this is what makes the 90% of aging signs and the tanning slons have these rays. Also the UVB is the ray that burns you and contributes to skin cancer. What you need are products that help you get protected form both rays and always try to avoid the SPF over 30 because these will cause your skin to get irritated. I use these great products that help me get a nice tan, they also have great sun protectors for everyday use and water resistant, and they also have a tan enhancer that makes your tan last longer....you could find them in this site, at the left margin look for BefoRE Sun and you will find them .... http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com ( under shop online) the best part is that they have ingredients for anti aging.... wonderful...and the hair protectn is just divine because it also works like a detangler..... and you could also use the "chap stick" they have to protect and hydrate your lips ....... also check this site out about toxins in "beauty" products .... http://easylink.playstream.com/ydc/Arbonne/fox_news.wvx

Well let's see...which would be the quickest route to melanoma...lifelong sunworshipper here as well as a recovering 10-year tanning bed addict...and I had my first go round with melanoma last year. I have a beautiful 2" scar on my forearm now and have to go to the dermatologist for a head to toe skin check every so many months for the next four years yet. I'm 33. If you'd like, I can send you pictures of my forearm immediately post op if you think that would help your decision along.

Try self tanner. Tanning beds and sun-bathing will give you the worst 'long-term results' - prematurely wrinkled and sun-spotted skin (and not to mention an increased risk of skin cancer).

Trust me, you'll look younger and better for longer if you just go the fake tan method for now.

weel, sunbathing is nice, but its time consuming. If you go to the tanning salon, its takes a few times to see a nice tan. I, personally, go in the salon.

LOLOLOL "Long-term results", if you want that, do either of them. You'll look like leather when your forty, since you're pale and you'll have to go a few times a week to "achieve a natural looking tan". Try self-tanners...

some thing organic. i advise tan epidermis does look good, notwithstanding if its not organic then its a turn off. tanning= leather-depending wrinkly epidermis and spray tans=oompa loompa (nicely maximum there are some good ones). so in the experience that they were born with tan epidermis then its all good

I prefer sunbathing but I hear so many stories about skin cancer that I don't do it too much. I use sunless tanners instead.
