Every two or three weeks, we have an ERT meeting and there's about 4 of us in a small room, and the guy who is giving the meeting is so mono-tone... boring as F***. I sit there and fight keeping my eyes open. I tried bringing water and sipping on, tried taking notes... nothing. Any other suggestions?

Put a little nip of something in your coffee. Being buzzed may make him more intresting. Plus, you will feel a little guilty for drinking during work and end up staying away because a really bad employee would not drink and sleep on the job (it is how I got through one of my college courses with professor with soothing voice). Suggest to this person that he needs to improve his speaking skills. Encourage him to join toastmasters. It is a public speaking group. If his speaking is really bad somehow get that information to him when he is up for review with the company as something he can work on improving. He might be really nervous about speaking and that could be why he is so monotone. He might not be aware. Meeting are generally boring, Get used to it.

Try to get prepared in advance for the meeting, like getting informed on what the meeting will be about, who is keeping that meeting, and I think that if you know more than the one keeping the meeting, you can get involved...only by getting involved, you can stay awake, when you don't know much about the subject it's on discussion and it doesn't interrest you at all, then you tend to fall asleep! And the coffee won't help!

If you have an anonymous suggestion box, suggest that somebody else leads the meetings. Get lots of sleep the night before, and if you don't like coffee or energy drinks - drink a bunch of cola.

A cup of strong coffee or caffeine tablets 30 minutes before the meeting should help.
