I'm a man, and the best boss I ever had was a woman. She was consistent and pitched in right along with us hourly folks. I'd be inclined to say it doesn't matter, though. Bosses are like boxes of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get... and sometimes you get fruits or nuts.

Women, in my experience, are atrocious bosses.
Ironically enough, you hear it more from women who like to have men as their bosses than the other way around.
By no means to I think a woman incapable of any said task; but it just has been my personal experience that the female bosses tend to either be too tough to try to assert themselves as not the stereotypical pushover mushy type...bullheaded and unwavering because they see compromise as giving in (see above), or the classic spineless pushover.
Additionally, women tend to promote and hire women more than men do..and at a noticeable delta. Many believe that women are not given a fair shake, that there's a glass ceiling, etc., so they try to over-compensate for this by hiring females instead of males, cetaris perabis. I've found this to be true with some minorities as well (don't flame me and call me a racist, just stating historic personal facts here, folks).
I've had ****** male bosses, too....so I'm not saying it's only women who can be crappy bosses....but my personal preference is male.

I'm a woman and I prefer a man. A male boss tends to let you do your job and leaves you alone unless he is a bi@#!. A female boss you have to deal with her mood swings, she always feels you are after he job. Completely catty. I have two bosses right now (I'm and Office Mgr.) and take the male one everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

i am female but i prefer male bosses. i've worked w/ female bosses b4 and they are too bossy and arrogant and put their personal emotions into the business. they're not very professional when it comes to dealing with office or client issues. i've turned down jobs just cuz i found out the boss would be a woman.

A man. Out of all the bosses I have had, the men are usually more laid back.

The two top bosses in my Store are women. The top one does not take any crap, BUT she is extremely fair. Definitely not the laid back type. I treat her and the store with Respect, and she has never done any wrong to me. I don't have a problem with it at all, as long as they know what they're doing, and they're good at what they do.

I'm a female and prefer a male. They are easier to talk to. It's kind of not right, but males are easy to flirt with and I've gotten my way with many a male boss.

Men because I am a women and I have had many women bosses and I could always tell when they are PMSing because they get short and nasty with employees like it is our fault they are bleeding, all you have to worry about with a man is if he and his wife are on good terms, men never have attitude
