An overgrowth of a yeast-bacteria, Candida Albicans, which is found naturally in the body. Cetain circumstances can cause the yeast to overgrow and cause an infection. It is most commonly found in the mouth or, in women, in the vagina.
Vaginal thrush causes itchniess and soreness/stinging of the vagina and vulva along with a whitish or yellowish discharge. It can be easily treated with antifungal medication - usually cream and a an intra-vaginal pessary, or oral tablets. These kill off the yeast. You can be prescribed antifungal preparations by your doctor or (at least in the UK) you can buy them over the counter at a chemist (drugstore).

It's basically a yeast infection in the mouth. Babies get it often. Adults can get it too. I got it a year or so back. It was a side effect from an anti-biotic I was taking. It's horrible Makes your throat and mouth hurt really bad. Also makes your mouth dry and you get really thirsty, but it hurts to drink anything. I had to take an inti-fungal medication for over a week to get rid of it. Not a pleasant experience.
