I can imagine how much the media pays them for their wedding photos.

Can celebrities afford to marry for themselves? I think that there are slim chances that they do meet and fall in love with others, but the strain is in many ways too great, along with the regular problems that arise within a "normal" marriage you have Paparazzi tabloids and just the general public that often end up hounding these people. So yes in the end I do think that just like in history people were married for position and power, today that is the same as publicity and attention.

I think Britney Spears' first, 55 hours long marriage was just a PR action. Sometimes celebs weds not for the money but for the media attention. Reality heroes like Jessica/Nick and Carmen Electra/Dave Navarro could afford a nice, intimate ceremony but they let the MTV filming the whole crap to be in the limelight.

Actually Nick Lachey was touring before he married Jessica. She actually was an opening act for his band 98 Degrees!

To answer the original question I think some relationships are for publicity but would hope those expensive weddings aren't stunts. Hollywood makes a mockery of marriage enough as it is.

I think so. The ones that are always in the spotlight, but some I feel really do love each other. Like Ben and Jen, Matt and Luciana, Catherine and Michael. But people like Britney spears, and people like that do they are just lookingfor attention.

Of course!! Look at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes ... all the hype about them getting married when they needed to advertise MI3 but look at it now!! No hype whatsoever coz nothing needs to be advertised!! Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman totally in love though!!

If you look at nick and jessica, everything about their marrage was on tv and was highly publicised. I think they got married just to get their names out. After being publicised in the tabloids and on tv people were really interested in them. It created their show, the newly weds, and nick's cd, what's left of me. So yes, i think everything about their relationship was fake and was just for entertainment.

yes, they use their wedding to get attention and then of course the divorce always ends up in the tabloids too...so it's a win win situation.
