actually you never have to remove it
if it becomes uncomfortable you can switch to a pregnancy bar which is a belly ring that flexex (you can get one for about $15)
there is no medical reason to remove the ring (unless it is infected)
although you may be asked to take all jewelry off if you have a c-section (you can put it back in after they stitch you up)
belly rings take approximately 9 months to heal before you can leave them out for more that a few hours (my brother does percings)

I think once your belly starts growing to the point that the ring is uncomfortable, you should take it out. There will be a point when it just doesn't fit anymore. I didn't have one in while pregnant, but I had the scar from the one I did have at one time. As I got bigger, the scar stretched and stretched to the point that there would be no possible way, unless it was repierced, that a ring would fit.
On the other hand, it would be easier to clean while pregnant because the holes are much more obvious. Also, I think the holes would stretch out around the ring and then after the baby, you'd have a gap between your skin and the ring.

I had my belly button pierces for 5 years and now that i'm pregnant i took it out. Not by what the DR told me, it just gets uncomfortable. And it streches. I'm not sure what the recommended time frame is on keeping it in so it doesnt close, call the place you went to, to get it done. I wouldnt worry about it closing, you can always re-pierce it. To be honest, my belly ring area looks gross in my eyes, cause its bruised from the streching. But dont let that freak you out... each person is different, and you may get away with wearing it throughout your pregnancy! Good luck

I'm not sure and you might want to check with your doctor or midwife. I had had my belly ring in for two years but it closed up almost immediately after I took it out! I will have to get it redone after the baby is born.
I took mine out straight away on finding out I was pregnant but I have since met many pregnant women who have left their rings in until quite late. I think the main problem is that the skin can become stretched and maybe tear around the piercing, plus it may get in the way of scanning equipment. I don't think it could actually hurt the baby at all as its only through the top layer of skin of your belly.

Although they make flexible plastic rings to wear during pregnancy, almost every doctor will tell you to have this removed by the seventh month or your belly button ring could rip the skin due to stretching. On a lighter note, if the hole does close during this time, any good peircing artist will be able to use the same hole to reinsert the ring so as not to add scarring to your naval.

hi. You dont have to take out your ring until you go into labor IF you buy one of those pregnancy belly rings.. they are made of a rubbery plastic and they stretch with your growing belly. You can find them on ebay. Just type in "maternity belly rings". Hope this helps!

you don't have to take it out i never did i just brought a materinty belly bar of ebay for 8bucks so much better than taking it out specially since u havn't had it for long so it will more than likley close over fairly fast. if u can't get ur hands on a martinty belly bar u'll know when u need to take it out because the bar will be really short or it may start getting infected or something like that. but i highly suggest u look around shops and get urself a martiernty belly bar for urself, or go on ebay like i did

chances are that after you have this baby you will not want anyone to see your belly, let alone your belly with a ring in it
There is not much you can do for stretch marks- I tried everything, and was so proud that I didn't have any. I woke up at 32 weeks with a little mark above my bellybutton, she was born 4 weeks later and i have them above my bellybutton, all over my lower abdomen, inner thighs and on my butt!

i would say that around the end of your second trimester going into your third would be the time to take it out.
the best way to tell is when your belly button is starting to pop out. when you start to see your belly button stretch, then i would take it out.
also, once it's out it will most likely close up. you haven't had it long enough to stay open for the duration of your pregnancy.
