As you probably already know, depending on what kind of music and affilication/association your church situation might be, your choices might vary. As an African American with a background in the Baptist and now Word Church, the music that I play and sing are uplifting and inspirational. I like "His Eye Is On the Sparrow, Amazing Grace, Sacrificed His Life, " He's Worthy". Then there are other songs such as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I have a collection of songs I have written and recorded that I would like played at my service. I don't want people crying, lying and testifying. (smile) Just play the good music, slide me in the wall, and go party! (my child can divy up the money as she sees fit)

I was at a funeral earlier this year and a group of musicians who were friends of the deceased played a slow version of 'crying in the rain' which was very touching.
The rocker in me says 'a toute le monde' by Megadeth, the idiot says 'I am the resurrection' by the Stone Roses.
In my heart of hearts though, I reckon 'who wants to live forever' by Queen gets my vote

My friends went to a funeral the other day of their aunt, they had had the service and 2 or 3 hymns everyone was tearful when the service ended then the music changed to "Show me the way to Amorillo" apparantly it was at their aunts request. I would like "I wanto know what love is by Foreigner" or "Who wants to live forever by Queen" at mine

I'd have to have the last laugh, so I'd pick something like Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" - Monty Python, Gareth Gates and the Kumars doing "Spirit in the Sky", "Bat out of Hell" by Meatloaf....or maybe I'd compose something myself and write it into my will that everyone has to sing it and make it really hard to sing and full of necrophillic references.
