I will rate all areas:
C: Tigers: Pudge
1B: White Sox: Konerko
2B: White Sox: Iguchi
SS: Tigers: Guillen
3B: White Sox: Crede
LF: White Sox: Posednik (speed puts him on top)
CF: Tigers: Granderson
RF: White Sox: Dye
DH: White Sox: Thome
Bench: Tigers: Gotta like what Thames is doing, D. Young will be back soon.
Manager: Tigers: All Jim does is turn teams around; he's the Bill Parcell's of baseball.
SP: Tigers: Whites Sox have 3 starters with 4.90 ERA or higher, this will catch up to them.
CP: White Sox: Jenks. Jones has 6.00+ ERA and strikes out a batter as often as Pigpen takes a bath.
Bullpen: Tigers: Zumaya might be best middle reliever in baseball
White Sox have the better overall offensive team. Tigers have a better SP's and Bullpen. Sox got a way better closer. Tigers have Leyland (Guillen is pretty darn good also). But I think pitching is the deciding factor here. I believe the Tigers pitching is substantially better than the White Sox. White Sox have a better offense but not by much.
Tigers in a close one.

The Chicago White Sox have the better team.
As a baseball fan I know this.
While The Tigers do have a good team, and a manger who knows how to make the players reach thier potential, The Tigers are just simply over matched.
So far, in the season series, The White Sox have beaten us (The Tigers) 5 games to 1. We have 13 games remaining.
Those 13 games will determine who wins The Central and who takes the wild card.
Whatever happens, I remain true to The Tigers and simply enjoying this season so far.

How can you not count the record? It is a measure of how a team compares against all other teams. That aside, I think the White Sox will end up as the Central Champs.

Bud of Beer forgot one thing in his excellent breakdown...
....the experience of being the defending Champions which I think down the stretch run will play a major difference in the final outcome of this division. The Tigers while yet are very talented, they are YOUNG and this may factor in when the games are VERY important and meaningful. I personally think these teams are a dead heat, even with the Championship/playoff experience card I have just brought up being played.

How can you discount their records when they are in the same division and play the same teams as well as each other?? What has been their head to head results? That just might offer a clue!! Just a thought.
