I found this at http://www.csectionrecovery.com/faq.html#driving :

When can I drive a car?
The answer to this one seems to vary a great deal from doctor to doctor. Women have reported everything from 2 weeks to 6 weeks, though usually with an answer somewhere in the middle. This is another issue that depends a lot on your own body and how you are feeling. I would ask myself the following questions before getting into a car to drive again after having had a c-section:
1) Can I get in and out of the car without significant pain?
2) Can I buckle my seat belt over my abdomen without flinching?
3) Do I feel that I can turn my torso comfortably so that I am able to look over my shoulder and in all directions while driving?

As always, if you have questions - please check with your own doctor.

Well, I am not sure what the doctors say, I waited about 4 weeks to drive. The first two weeks I was on serious painkillers so that affects your ability to operate machinery, and then I was just too tired from nursing all the time.
At our post op appointment at six weeks, the doctor gave us the ok for "marital relations" but it was not something that was desirable. I think every Body is different, as well as each recovery. C-sections have become so common people forget it is a MAJOR surgery. Add to it the stress of caring for a new born 24/7. It's amazing we can do anything at all!!
But seriously if you are feeling like your partner is not interested in much and unable to function you should see if there is the possibility of post partum depression. Good luck and congratulations on the new arrival!!!

They say that a woman shouldn't drive for 6 weeks but they even say that after a vaginal delivery. My Dr explained to me that with me having a c-section that it was very important that I didn't drive cause of the nerves and things that had to be cut to perform the c-section and what would I do if I like starting having cramps or nerve flitches or something like that. So I would wait the full 6 weeks to drive and about "normal stuff" she should know her body and be able to know if her body feels up to doing normal things. Just tell her to take it a day at a time, little by little cause she don't want to overdue her self. Good luck.

They say 6 weeks I had twins and a c-section and my obgyn told me it was safest to drive when I could press the break pedal all the way down with out any trouble or pain. I didn't drive for like 12 weeks but I had major complication. For saftey reason I would wait the full 6 weeks.

I've had two c-sections - one for each child. For both, it took me over a month to heal, before being able to drive. She can't even sneeze without having pain. Doing anything that requires the use of those muscles in your lower abdomen hurts really bad for about the first 6 weeks after birth. Have patience, she'll be back to her old self pretty soon.

They say not to drive or lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for 4-6 weeks after a c section. Honestly I drove 4 weeks after mine, I tried at 2 weeks but I could not hardly lift my leg to get to the brake pedal. It really is safer to wait 4 weeks. It sucks, I know, I tried to cheat but it was dangerous and painful.

Well I would say that it depends how much pain she is in. She should be able to drive now but if she finds it too painful or if she is on high doses of pain killers she might want to hold off and she might not want to sit in the car for a long period of time. As for the other stuff - you want to avoid anything too strenuous for about 6 weeks.
I drove pretty much as soon as I got out of the hospital.

The Doctors say 6 weeks, but I was driving before then, I guess it has to do with how you feel as well as how you heal. If she starts to drive before then just limit it to short trips

actually i went out shopping abt 3 days after my c-section...of cos with my body bending...
when can the person drive depends individually on the healing speed...some heal faster while others are slow...
but remember not to lift heavy things as it may trigger the wound to split. and she had it almost one month ago should be no problem driving unless there are complication near the wound.
but remember NOT to carry heavy items.....

My doctor told me not to drive for two weeks after my C-section. She said it's the same for any major surgery.
