Not necessarily. Mine actually doesn't want to be messed with and becomes quite testy and wants to sleep more when she's in season. We just leave her alone for a few days and then she's fine.

Not always. I'm not sure about dwarves, but with teddy bear/Syrian hamsters, if you pet the hamster from head to tail and they "freeze" (you can probably find pictures online to clarify this), they are in heat. There will also sometimes be a slight discharge while they are in heat.

I don't think so. Most female hamsters should be put in the shade. ( That is what I did with my hamster.) So, I son't really know the answer to your question, but I guess that they don't.
