Why are so many people tan, yet if you TALK to people, or read articles, yahoo answers, etc, everyone says, oh tanning is bad for you, you should not do it!!! I know here where I live, MOST girls get a nice golden glow in the spring and summer, if not all year round. How long do you think it will be before we truly change to the point of finding tans unattractive? I mean, they used to worship pure white skin on women-will we ever go back to that? (PS I too think I look better with a tan, sigh.)

Yes I have a little tan...I work most days and don't get out A LOT in the sun...but if I have something special coming up I will go tanning indoors, but that's on very rare occasions, not more than a few times a year probably.

i go tanning. i know its bad for you, but people still smoke and do drugs and get addicted to alchohol even though that's dangerous. i believe tanning is just another thing people know is dangerous but always will do it. i think i look nice with a tan. when im not tan my skin gets red very easily, like if im upset or even if i scratch my chest. its ugly, and w/ a tan it doesnt. plus the heat is very relaxing.

No, actually I don't. I have VERY white skin. I used to work at a tanning salon a few years ago, and I saw what it did to the owner's mom, the woman looked like an orange, literally all orangey and dimpled and gross. Since then, I haven't gone tanning, and because I hate the hot summer weather, I don't lay out either. I am hoping that someday, the many years of not being able to wear shorts out of sheer embarassment and fear of scaring people will pay off with less wrinkles and more youthful skin when I am older.

I dont have a tan. I used to goth around for 4 years and i was white, not untanned. Now i dont hide from the sun all day long, but i dont go sunbathing or gettin fake tan either. White skin is actually beautiful, but only when your skin is perfect. The more tanned teh skin is, the more problems it covers.

I have freckles. I don't tan unfortunately. Because of my red hair/skin tone, if i'm out in the sun for even 5 minutes, I burn. I've tried the fake tanning creams, sprays, etc., but they all turn orange on me. If I can gather up the courage, I may try one of those Mist Tans now at tanning salons that lasts 7 days.

Yes, I have a tan but it is only because I am outside a lot...I like to play basketball & softball outside as many days of the week that I can,I try to get out and practice shooting and pitching as much as I can.I am also in cross-country so I run a lot too...if you WANT to get a tan go outside and get around a little and wear sunscreen.DON'T just lay in the sun though...

yes I have a tan, yes I do think people look better with a tan, and tanning can be safe if you use a fake one, ie Dove body moisturizer with a hint of fake tan is 'tantastic' ha ha. If you are pale so what its nice to have pure white skin too, Nicole Kiddman is beautiful and she is the whitest person ever

I have a olive complexion and tan very easily. I have never been burned, and am darker than my cousins who are half-black. I have never worn sunscreen (which I know is not good), but I dont lay out, either. I get tan if I am swimming, running, or playing tennis . . . just being outside I get a tan. I do not go to tanning beds, however.
