plastic is the name given to polymers that have engineering applications. proteins are polymers but we don't build structures etc with them (at least not yet). So to ask the chemical name for plastic is like asking the chemical name for metal. There are many plastics, polyethylene, polypropylene, acrylic, etc all with different chemical make-ups.

plastic is made of many ethene molecules (C2H4)....these are joined by a condensation reaction called polymerisation...to produce long chains of polyethene..this is plastic...!
