-just as it is done to babies

-but here i am asking you people, who can make choices for yourselves, and, most importantly, voice an opinion about it.

-so, what would you do if some people strapped you down on a table and cut off your foreskin?

-what you have to say about that?

-take your time to think about it, i have used up my quota of questions today, yes, every one of them on foreskin removal!!!!

Well Red,
I've seen the babies circumcised when they were newborn and I've also witnessed a 4 year old have the procedure because they didn't have it done as a baby. Believe me, it's MUCH worse to have it done as an adult or anytime after the newborn period. It's major surgery later on, with sutures and the works. OW!

Now I'm not saying that anyone has to choose to have a circumcision. I don't have a penis myself and hated to have my sons circumcised, but their father insisted. He had to have it done as a toddler because he was adopted and they didn't do it to orphans. He remembered it and didn't want his sons to ever have that experience. I bowed to his much stronger and supported opinion.

Different physicians use different procedures to circumcise. Some use an anesthetic, some think it is more traumatic and time consumming than the procedure itself. I've seen it both ways and it really depends on the physician and their technique. Some physcians choose not to even perform the procedure. There are also different apparatuses used, so you should be informed about these and the risks and benefits of each. It is not quite as cold as you imply by the questions and statements you use to enforce your point.

I agree that one should make informed choices in medical decisions. I also think that we should respect their right to choose.

I think your point might carry a bit more weight if you didn't bombard us all with your exaggerated statements and respected the Yahoo Community Guidelines. They refer to your repeat postings as spam...and we all know how irritating spam is.

I don't really understand what your motivation is to try to stop newborn circumcisions, knowing what a major traumatic procedure it is if it is desired or required later in life. But now maybe people have a bit more information to base their individual decision on.

What could I say about it? If I were a boy and my parents had had me circumcised, I wouldn't really have any say in the matter. I probably wouldn't dwell on it, unless it was a botched job. In that case, I'd like to think my parents would have had it corrected soon after the first surgery, or when I was still young enough so that I never knew it had happened.

How many men do you know who were circumcised as infants and who are truly bitter, resentful, angry, or upset in any other way about it? I know none...

I would say the same thing I said when everyone pressured me to circumsize my son -- NO! There's no reason to! But they wanted him to "look like everyone else" and decided to go for it anyway. It was a horrible experience for a newborn, I can imagine it would be worse for a grown man with cognitive thought and understanding of the procedure.

I guess I would ask for pain pills and call an attorney. But, then again, if I had foreskin and a penis, I would probably be the first one to want it cut off! :)

as a woman, i don't have that option. But if I were a man, and knew the pros and cons, and the fact that the foreskin truly has no beneficial use to the man, i would have it removed purely for hygene reasons.

Well...I'm not a guy but I think I'd be pretty upset, but apparently you were having a medical problem or it is a religious ritual of some sort. Just be glad it's over you'll probably be thankful later in life!

Silly question....the men I know who are circumcised are happy with it. As a women, I am happy men are circumcised. The only unhappy people I've met ('real life') have been uncircumcised men who wish they had been.

But what ever works for you.

I chose not to have my son clipped mostly for the fact that there didn't seem to be a good enough reason to do it.
That said - you need a different hobby.
