It could be any number of things.
1. You could be pregnant. The growing of your uterus if you are pregnant stretches all sorts of ligaments in the area and can cause mild cramping.
2. You could be premenstrual. There are many things, including stress and travel, that can make your period late. Your cramps could just be a mild form of PMS.
If you think you may be pregnant, go ahead and take a pregnancy test to be sure. The First Response test is the most sensitive and should measure levels of Hcg this early.
If this continues for much longer, pregnant or not, go see your doctor just to make sure everything's okay.

Had the same problem, was one day late for my period today, couldn't resist, had to make a test, POSITIVE!!! And so delighted!!
If u r already late, make a test it should come up by now, if u r pregnant.
