Slayer....quite simply the best band around in the 80's

Although runners up include:

Megadeth
Metallica
Van Halen
Venom

Guess it depends what sorta bands you mean

Fleetwood Mac no doubt about that. Even though bands like Duran Duran were good, in my opinion Fleetwood Mac were better for the sheer history of the group and the way they wrote the lyrics showed this.

I would have to say Duran Duran. And my reason for saying that is that they are the only ones who have managed to hang around. True, they were off the charts for a while, but each time they have come back they have been successful.

Most other bands from that era seemed to have faded into obscurity.

Human League, Dare is THE album of the 80s in my opinion, the pure electronic sound coupled wiith pop was fantastic.

Van Halen, but before Sammy Hagar. Eddie V was years ahead of his time with his guitar work. David Lee Roth still has one of the best vocal ranges out there too.
