Did you sign any sort of agreement, or was one made available to you to read? If so, the details should be in that document.

Each rental has its own set of rules. Some require payment in full if you don't cancel within 30 days, some only keep your deposit. There are laws in each state that may dictate exactly how much they're allowed to charge you. Since I don't know where this cottage is, I can't offer specific advice.

However, if the rental people aren't requesting payment in full, I wouldn't worry about it. If they are, ask the question again and tell everyone in what state the cottage is located.

Or, you could just let them take you to small claims court and the judge will let you know who is right. However, most people like to avoid court whenever possible.

Depends on the terms of your rental agreement, assuming you signed something, or a policy was stated upfront. But I would say probably not, but it really goes back to what terms you agreed to!

It all depends on the agreement you came to when you made the reservation. Usually they just keep the deposit.

Call the people that you made the agreement with and explain the situation to them and see what they say.

You usually won't get the amount in full, but you should get back atleast 80%.
