Only time will tell. Looking at StarTrek, people still rock to it 40 years after it was televised, even though it only lasted a short time.

Will people be rocking to Stargate SG-1 in 30 years? Dunno.

(But the cool thing is that StarTrek introduced us to cell phones, computers, lasers, etc. So, hopefully, Stargate SG-1 will introduce us to, you guessed it, a Stargate! Sign me up...)

No. It is a long running show but it still has a smaller audience than any of the Star Trek programs. The fans of Stargate and Star Trek are mostly the same people (including the writers of Stargate). There is room for 2 shows and people aren't going to abandon the Trek for the Gate. They like them both.

Maybe but then Star Trek has been with us since the mid 60's. Not to mention all its off shoots: Voyager, TNG, Deep Space 9 and of course Enterprise. And don' t forget all the movies that it spawned. Thats quite a lot for Stargate SG1 to surpass. And yes I know there was a Stargate movie before the series.

I think their are enthusiastic fans for both shows. I was a big Star Trek TNG fan, I love that show. But I still think SG-1 is the best show ever.
