its not just trapped air...its also becos of reflection due to the ice faces(inside the cube)..... well basically there are a lot of reflections inside the ice cube which appear to be white....

Impurities in the water. If you want to find out for yourself, use distilled water to make ice cubes and you'll see the difference. The ice cubes will be crystal clear.

This is because of impurities in the water, that includes dissolved gas and other soluble entities such as, minerals. If you use pure water. Deionized, filtered and then distilled to remove impurities then you should get a clear Ice without the white center.
