Years ago, car sales were conducted on empty lots and a small office was built to give the salesman a place to discuss the deal with customers. It was usually located in or near the business district, was flat, paved or unpaved, and had street access. These car lots were the fore runner of modern dealerships with massive sales areas, service departments and acres of display area outdoors.
