You don't say if you are going for just a check up or if you are going because you are pregnant.
Make sure to know when you had your first period (gee, I wish someone would have told me when I started my period that this was going to be a question that all doctors seem to ask you...I would have written it down!), when you last period was. Also bring along your insurance card if you have insurance.
Make a list of questions that you have so you you have them (most people get nervous when they're at the doctor) and it helps to have them written down. Make sure to bath or shower before going in.
A big question I always had was when they tell you to take everything off and get on the table with either that paper gown or paper drape...do you take off your socks too? Those stirrups are so cold on your feet!
If you are pregnant they will want to test your urine, so you'll want to make sure that you can give them that while you're there too.
Other than that, you'll have to fill out all kinds of forms so you'll need addresses and phone numbers of an emergency contact, employer addy & phone #, and also if you're married you need all that info for him too. You'll need social security numbers for you both too.
Can't really think of too much else. Just try to relax and make sure it's a doctor that you feel comfortable with...afterall this person will be working with you to make sure you stay healthy and you have to be able to really trust them. If you don't like them or don't feel comfortable (and if they don't stay around for you to ask them questions) then it's time to move on to someone else. There are too many out there for you to stay with someone you don't like or don't trust!
Good luck and relax! It will be over soon.

hahaha......thats so funny but right, take a shower cause they're prolly gonna be poking around down there, have your last period date, prepare for blood work if your preggers, but fyi, if you choose not to have a pap smear right now, just tell them. They can wait. I waited until I was past like the 3 month "safe" marker. So good luck.

you'll have a regular check-up just like your yearly one...and they'll take some blood for some tests. Also be sure to allocate some time, b/c you'll be asked a lot of family history questions. I know b/c I just had mine last month :) By the time you get out of there, you'll be a bit overwhelmed w/ all the paperwork and information.....but you'll be OK...just take all the pamphlets home and read them one at a time....take your time.....

Write down any questions you have. That's what I would do before every appointment, otherwise I'd forget it all once I got there.
