Well...right now, he's no Steve Nash. But he will be (and sooner).

What he is, is an improving, top-quality NBA point guard who plays smart (coach's son).

As for right now, based on last year, he'll give you 36 minutes and 16 pts., 6.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds. He's a good free throw shooter at 82% and hits 37% of his threes. And even right now, he beats the hell out of Nash's defensive and ball-control numbers with Steals (1.4 vs. .8), Blocks (.28 vs. .2) and lower TO's (2.68 vs. 3.5).

Moreover, he's improved every year for the 3 years he's been in the league, just as Mr. Nash has.

By the way, if you compare 10 yr. veteran Steve Nash's 3rd year (98-99 w/ Dallas) to Hinrich's 3rd year (05-06 w/ Chicago), Hinrich had twice the point production, 30% more rebounds, 15% more assists, a better FG%, and equal 3pt. and FT %'s.

And Hinrich's team played .500 ball compared to Dallas' .280. In the playoffs, Hinrich increased his production by 30%.

In 2008, Hinrich will be 27 years old and in his prime. Who better for your 2006-2008 Team USA roster? Maybe then, 37 year old Nash can play for Team Canada again.

I'll be glad to have Kirk Hinrich on Team USA.

Let's see, he's not your prototypical shoot first NBA player. He can create space off the dribble and get into the lane and draw another defender. At this point he involves the rest of his team by hitting the open man or takes his own shot if nobody steps up on him. He also has a deadly outside shot and can rebound very well from the backcourt position. With his improving defense, he is turning into one of the more complete guards in the League.

Hinrich's another guy who can run the offense and hit the open shot. But, what he brings most to this team is a defensive point guard who plays extremely tough-nosed and intense. You need that with the European rules.

are you kidding? he is a court saavy point guard with great vision who distributes the ball unselfishly. he will be the guy keeping the offense balanced. not only that, he can score if he has to. there are so many scorers on the team, the ball needs to be moved around and the offense needs to stay in constant motion. when others are struggling he can help carry the load, but mostly he will be running the offense like a true point should. also, he is a tenacious defender and fabulous all around team player.
