Zidane's red card was anything but unusual. He was sent off 14 times in his career at the club and international level.
At the 1998 World Cup, he stomped on a Saudi Arabian opponent. Sitting out a two-match ban, he came back to score two goals against Brazil in the final.

It's already three weeks since this incident. Looks like zidane made a name for himself this time. Why did he headbutt Materazzi? Acorrging to the lip readers, Materazzi apparently said something like he is the son of a terriest, that his sister was a prosistute , that he was trying ot flirt with Materazzi's sister, that Matarazzi was speaking of something racial. Zidane said that Materazzi, pulled his shirt several times, he told him that they could exchange t-shirts later but he just kept pulling Zidane's shirt. Who does he thinks he is anyway? His's so disrespectful, a joker, he thinks that he is so great. ok, let's get back to the main point. And then he said lots of awful things. Once was enugh but thrice was too much, Then zidane say that he tried to pretend that he did not listen to what Materazzi said and Materazzi tried another way, speaking ill of sister and his mother. Zidane said that Materazzi could talk about him but not his mother, he got so angry, he tried to calm down but when he saw Materazzi coming to him, he just couldn't take it anymore and head-butted him. That's so cheap, if I was him, I would have bash him up. That's worth the red card. Actually, what Zidane did was stupid. I am a great fan of his though. But there is one thing he did not ask himself. If he really loved his family, I mean his mother, he should have ignore him and fun as far away as possible. Wouldn't his mother be happier if he got the cup than the red card ? To be fair, let's look at what Matarazzi has to say. He say that he would not talk about Zidane's mother because he lost his mother about 11 or 14 years i think. He is a great fan of Zidane too. The latest news is that Zidane has been fine i think $6000 plus and Materazzi $4000plus. Materazzi can't play in a few games too. Matarazzi is a coward. He is dispeakable, he don't have to insult Zidane for fun or somthing else. Zidane was like a gantle man in the interxiews. I still cannot believe he did such a thing. He is such a cool cumumber, but he turn into a spicy chilly because of , to me, a small matter. Violence can't solve problems
