the reason we don't eat orange skin is because orange skin is known to many to comprise of a substance termed "rind"..this rind is comprised of many tiny fat globules....which is ingested would tend to cause the individual to soon suffer from alcers....this leads to acid reflux...however many people take the orange skin and leave it to dry for about two weeks..this causes all the fats and oils within the skin to dry out..the skin is then used by boilin and the water used to make a drink called "orange peel tea"...this is a cure for gas and chest pains...p.s..it must be drank hot!

Most fruit skin has the most nutrition and in many fiber. A friend of mine bites right into the orange and eats the whole thing and has never had any problem(s) with her stomach by eating it all. Some people react though, I have heard that potato skin can be toxic to some people.

Some people in some areas of the wold do eat orange skins. Some areas of the midwest this is also common. Jellies and marmalades are also sometimes made with orange peel. I have seen some recipes that call for it as well.

I remember my grandma made candy out of orange peel. Of course there was lots of added sugar, which may have taken a lot away from the whole "health benefit" factor.

I do!!
I mean, eat the outermost skin of oranges, not the whitish stuff in between though.
Like everything else ( frogs, snails larvae, termites....), it takes getting used to but can be done.
