says who? if my husband confided in another woman, or shared his hopes and dreams with her, inner thoughts, his feelings.......etc he is opening himself up to her and that is pretty much emotional cheating to me, and he agrees with it.

I think that the verbally sharing thoughts that you speak of is a form of cheating.. yes, physical contact with another is considered "more painful" but what leads up to the physical contact? I know that I put my boyfriend through a lot of pain when I got close to a male friend. Granted this male friend was just that but I would be lying if I said there was no attraction there at least for the want to know him more. I definitely severed ties with this friend because I cared for my boyfriend more than keeping this conflict between us. Staying in contact with this friend longer than what I was would have been cheating, even if there was no physical contact involved. I agree with the above comment about that rule of thumb..

I think cheating is verbally to its still an emotinal affair. My husband chatted with some one on line for a year. He told me he tried to end it after a few month. When he got uncomfortable. But she got possesive. She claimed she would say more had happend than had. I have the conversations but I still feel cheated cause he didn't tell me. Until it got outta hand a she turn nuts.

Actually, depending upon your personal morals and values, it is not only physical contact which would be considered cheating. Anything personal you are sharing with someone else other than your partner that could infringe upon the relationship is not good for it.

I consider cheating to be when the man has interests outside of me. Not just the physical act, although that would infuriate me (std's REALLY worry me), I care about the state of mind for my partner.. I want them to be happy and in love.. and I want to be in love and happy.

In my opinion, cheating occurs whenever one person does something in secret and would not be comfortable if their partner found out about it.
