You never see the words ' Israeli or Jew' in the same phrase as 'Terrorist'. Are there double standards here for Israeli's and Palestinian's?
You see the title 'terrorist' when a Palestinian suicide bomber does an attack and civilians are killed:
but whan the Israeli army bomb a house with a quarter ton bomb, kill a Militant, his wife, 7 sons and daughters aged 7 to 19;
when the Israeli army strike and kill an entire family of 7 except a small girl left crying next to the body of her father, on the Gaza beach;
when an Israeli missile rips into a family gathering while they sit in their back yard sipping tea and grilling corn, killing the mother, her 6 yr old daughter and 23 yr old son, you certainly don't hear the word 'Terrorists!!!'
All of the suffering + heartbreak is so sad for both sides.
My question is 'why', why is one classified a terrorist in the eyes of the worlds media, why is one propagated as a terrorist to the ears of the world, but not the other? Makes you wonder why

i must agree here, it is simple propaganda

with regard to israel, i've never understood why the western world doesn't just allow the arabs to overtake that nation

if we want stability in the region, then let the arabs take the land, if the jews can defend it so be it, but its time for the u.s. and the rest of our western allies to leave israel alone, it is of no strategic interest for us

Your missing a huge point here. Doing something bad and
having a particular label are different things. If I rob a bank
I'm not a purse snatcher. Terrorism is a word meaning acts
commited by non-government groups against civilians in
order to make a government do something. If Israeli military kills Palestinian children it is wrong (you can choose to think it is more wrong than anything ever in the world... even a war crime), but it is not Terrorism. If a couple of Israeli citizens purposefully shoots some Palestinian children in the street and say they are going to do it again until the Palestinian government gives back a kidnapped soldier... that would be terrorism.

The critical difference is this: go to a shopping mall in Gaza and see if there are security guards at the entrance. There aren't, because they are not needed.

FYI, it was conclusively proven (and widely publicized in the Arabic press) that the family on Gaza beach were killed by a landmine set by Hamas militants.

That is not to say that Israeli attacks on Hamas or Islamic Jihad positions don't kill civilians. It happens, and when it happens it is a great tragedy.

The difference is that they actively try not to harm civilians, which includes using smaller explosive charges in the missiles that they use in order to reduce the risk of casualties, even where it reduces the chance of killing the target.

This is crap, all propaganda. There is a war over there, and during war, innocents die, anyone who knows anything knows and understands this. When an enemy without a uniform hides in residental areas, its hard not to accidentally kill innocents.

The Isrealis do not strap a jacket of bombs to thier bodies and hop on a school bus and kill everyone. The Isrealis are going through hell. They deserve every right to defend themselves.

All in all, what I am trying to say is that accidents happen, and occasionally soliders probably do some messed up things, but you have to state both sides of an issue if your going to talk. If Hamas wants to get thier point across, suicide bomb bases, troops, not kids, I hate cowards.

This article picks out incidents that have happened over years. If we base our opinion on these facts, we might as well do research and get the numbers of all the innocents, children, women, whomever, killed by crazy extremist from Palestine.

This article is bias crap.

I know certain newsrooms have established guidelines for use of terms. For example, CNN refers to Israelis living in new settlements in the disputed area of Palestine as "Jewish settlers" instead of occupiers. Occupiers sounds more aggressive.

It seems as though the word terrorist is applied to any group of people the Bush administration disagrees with...
